We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join our world-class tech team and grow with us as we scale our services in the UK, US and globally.

As part of our tech team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the collection, processing, and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an early-career applicant to develop programming and data science skills in a small, fast-paced, and varied environment.

What will be your main responsibilities?

You will work as a key part of our tech team to identify, gather, and process data about healthcare from around the internet.

You will write and maintain Python scripts to collect, clean, and process data, and to assist with the development of machine learning models. You’ll be responsible for quality assurance and validating the performance and outputs of your code. You will also perform essential data management, using Excel and PostgreSQL– collating data from various sources, and ensuring they are joined correctly.

The ideal candidate will be an early-career data scientist who is eager to develop their skills in NLP, machine learning, and data visualisation. You will also as gain a wider understanding of the business, through working closely with the commercial team.

We are looking for someone who is excited to work in a dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment. You should be self-motivated, eager to learn, and willing to take on new responsibilities, while managing your workload.

Your skills and experience

Essential

  • Strong data analytical and exploratory skills
  • Strong Python skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in carrying out data cleansing, linking, validation and quality assurance across a variety of data types
  • Experience of Web scraping and using APIs
  • High attention to detail with confidence in dealing with ambiguity
  • Eagerness to take ownership and pride in documenting and maintaining your work
  • Being an independent learner with good problem-solving skills, who can use online resources to find solutions yourself
  • Educated to degree level

Desirable

  • Experience using SQL
  • Experience using Pandas, Tensorflow and Spacy
  • Experience working with text data
  • Experience implementing machine learning models
